Grooming Instructor:

  • Monday through Friday set schedule

  • Little pressure for high numbers to meet commission (there is no commission). At salons, pay is either commission or hourly and for some places it's half a year hourly and half a year commission depending on the busy season. Making commission is very stressful but is not a concern at PPP

  • Starting wage is very competitive

  • There is a high standard for dogs accepted into PPP so there is less risk for injury

  • The groomer does not do their own scheduling

  • PPP provides tools, sharpening, maintenance and repair so there is no wear and tear on personal tools

  • The instructor has the option to groom on their own time without compromising their position - there is a non-compete agreement

  • Although the instructor is expected to do some grooming and provide finishing touches at times, the program participants (incarcerated individuals) do most of the grooming

  • There are no last-minute bookings that keep the instructor stuck after their shift

  • PPP operates a healthy team-oriented environment. Instructors will receive support from the executive director and the whole team
